My headlights have a tendency to flicker on and off at the most inappropriate times. It only does it when it feels like it. No bumps or jars make it happen...nor does the weather have any effect on them. Sometimes it is just a flicker and other times they stay off for several seconds. It is a little scary when your headed down the road at 60 mph.
I have looked into the obvious; headlight switch and dimmer switch. I have also looked at the wiring harness. Nothing!!! I'm at my wits end.
Have any of you guys had anything like this happen?? If so, please contact me. I love the truck but my wife is afraid to drive it. Hell, I'm a little spooked, too.
Thanks in advance.
I just had the same problem. It took me a while to figure it out, the high beam portion of the pigtail melted on mine. I ended up just crimping individual connector on the end of each wire and plug them into the switch.
check the wiring connector on the headlight switch for meltin, also remove the steering column cover and look at the connector on the top right of center(this is hooked to the dimmer switch) for melting also. get replacements at junk yard and use in-line connectors to splice into wiring. i had this same problem and after 3 switches discovered these culprits!
