Redbob,

I actually didn't buy the tool however there is a service manual, (can't recall which right now that actually shows this tiny littel hook and gives a part number for a headlamp **** removal tool which probably costs $35.00 from Ford.

I agree though, after I took mine of for the first time I spun the **** until the slot for the release was at the top of the shaft so if ever it needed to come off again I could just get in there with a small flat screwdriver.

Is one supposed to use "specialty wrenches" to remove the fan clutch??

Not to my knowledge..however I've never disassembled the actual clutch perhaps they require some special tools... again, these are the kinds of things I am willing to include for the sake of getting the information out here where its readily accessable.

The fan clutch takes a spec. flat forklike tool that fits over the outsides of the 4 f.c. bolts. It's avail. usually on loan at auto zone, etc.
Go to google and enter ford fan clutch tool and hit images.

Is it something different than on my 1988? Because I just used normal closed end wrenches.

It sounds/looks like its probably used to help keep the pulley from rotating while breaking the nuts loose. I'll look into it.

I learned that the best way is to put the fan on LAST, after you have installed the serpentine belt, then it won't move.

i was just thinking that another good thing to include would be a list of suplyers for oem and aftermarket parts, such as jcwhitney and LMCtruck.

Yes, agreed, and in many cases aftermarket manufacturers are listed in specific instances, however, in the interest of promoting and helping maintain this site, priority has been given to MotorHaven as a general parts and accessories supplier.

The FAQ documentation has been forwarded to the administration for review. According to the moderator, the format and final revisions are pending. We all do this in addition to our daily routines so the process may teake some time to get a final version posted.

No need to assume that because the project has been submitted, that I will not continue to keep up with information. I realize that future products and changes may alter the information already shown so keep the information flowing. I will do my best to either incorporate or ammend the information as much as possible.

You can find the speaker size and such from crutchfield for 78-91 (back to 64). Use the link http://www.crutchfield.com. Then click on "What fits my car" on the left menu.
