My 1981 F100 302 AOD Short Wheel Base door code under axle says "04".
I can't seem to be able to find it anywhere on the net. The tag on the rear itself is missing. The rear is a 9" that's all I know. Any help in determining the ratio would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to determine what size tire to go with and don't want to go to large with a gear like a 2.75.
Also the old 302 is being replaced with my recently completed HP 302 and I would like a little more low end grunt, knowing my rear ratio would help me have a better idea how the truck will perform. Any Idea what an "04" is?
Go to that site and type in pertinent info and see what you get. If no axle info is given, check your build date on the plate and see if the truck was built close enough to '82 to maybe have an early '82 axle installed. If so check the '82 axle codes and see if there is a listing for "04". I know some of the earlier Mustangs were fitted with some of the next year's parts close to the model year change over. Just a guess whether the same would apply with the trucks.
