1. My turn signal cam was broken so I replaced it.
2. The signals did not work after I did this.
3. I checked the flasher behind the dash on near the ignition.
4. Brake lights worked at this time.
5. Replaced flasher near ignition.
6. Turn signals work.
7. Brake lights do not work any longer.
8. Emergency flashers work on front only.
9. I replaced the flasher near the heater on the right of the column.
10. Brake lights still do not operate.
11. Turn signals work fine.
12. If I turn the turn signal on and then the flashers, the brake lights flash.
What do I need to do? I can't seem to find the logic in this.
I had thought that if the flashers flash the brakes would work properly as well. Any advice?

Reason: goof
you know I had the excact same prob. years ago.... and you are going to hate me, I cant for the life of me remember what it turned out to be. I know that I had to re- solder a hot wire into the back of the brakelight fuse on the fusebox that had caroded. I remember monkeying around with the wires until I could manually cause the brakelights to come on under the dash (touching a hot wire to the leads going to the brake lights) then finding the wire from the harness and connecting the two.
Hope I did'nt confuse you anymore than you were. When I am able, I will go out and look under the dash and get back to ya.
Sounds like you might want to check out the brake light switch. It is mounted to bracket under dash and when you push the pedal it actuates the lights. Maybe, if you were messing around down there, you either unplugged it or maybe moved it and now it does not function??
Well, good news, sort of. As with most things on my truck I start with the cheapest parts first. I checked the wiring under the dash and everything was connected. I then checked both flashers and they were working. I then turned on the flashers and pumped the brake, nothing happend as I thought. I then kept the flashers on and turned the turn signal to the right and what do you know!? The rear brake lights started flashing! I then turned off the emergency lights and put my foot on the brake and turned the turn signal slightly up to activate teh right side and I saw the brake lights come on and the right turn signal too! but when I put it fully on the brake lights stopped working. What I need to do now is remove the steering wheel and check the connections for the turn signal cam I installed but I did that before I put it together! Has anyone had this problem? I used the HELP! replacement turn signal cam found at your local auto store.
Sounds like the contacts are not making contact. My '69 is just now starting to act up. It's all original still, but if you don't wiggle the stick a bit after using turn signals it will not light up BOTH brake lights. Needs some attention I suppose.
