i would like to have a timing light for my ford 7.3 idi, i know i saw a guy use one at the shop one time, he just hooked it on the fuel line like a regular timing light, but the wire went into some kind of box thingy that read the engine rpm and you could set timing advance and stuf... reg. timing light wont work, thought i'd give it a shot, anyone know about these things or do you just do it by ear??
it is the tach time unit. it works on an impluse from the fuel line into a central unit (small) along with a magnetic pickup and translates that into timing. I cant get around anymore so I have closed the shop. this unit also works on CAT, and GM diesels.
