For some reason that old country song "CONVOY" is now playing over and over again inside my mind.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Calgary's Country singer *Paul Brandt* just re-released that song.
How fitting for us Albertan's
I have already checked for airfare for next July /Aug and it is quite reasonable right now.
Although, it would be cool to pull my holiday trailer down there to allow for 2 others accommodation.
Imagine the look on some of the faces as a convoy of fords as far as the eye can see pulling up to a gas station, that would be quite a sight to see.
Has anyone thought of prehaps involving a few of the other ford sites in this? That would help insure a huge turnout of people and ford trucks, as well as help out with finacial part of this. But that could be more trouble than it's worth.
Anyway anyone be thinking of any dates for this? Dennis mentioned end of july beginning augest, perhaps the long weekend at the beginning of augest?
I don't think it would be appropriate for competing web sites to get involved in an event sponsored and hosted by FTE. Their members are welcome to join FTE and come to the event, but any official connection is out of the question. Sorry.
This sounds great to me. I would love to go.
If I may throw my $.02 in. I don't know the layout of the area, but if they have a campgrounds near by I just might bring my rolling Holiday Inn with me. That is just a thought though. I would have to see cost comparisons for the rooms and the location and price of the campgrounds.
Again, just my $.02. But I do want to go.
I am in; I would drive across the whole entire country. I will take a vote for Missouri since it is closer to me (Charlotte, North Carolina).
I think that everyone that shows up should get something special. Like where the FTE "Supporter" banner is every time you post, there could be another banner or point system, for example, every time you go to a national meet you get different benefits than others on the site, it would really make you elite.
Instead of a banner, I think if we ask Parks911 really nice he may be able to design us all a pair of "FTE" designer underware. Exhaust pipe in the back. Shifter in the front. Gas cap towards the top. Headers on each side. Hood release for the fly. All of these would of course have to be made of fabric or a drawing. I'm sure with that steel trap of a mine of his he can be more creative than I.
The KC area has a Ford truck plant (tours anyone?) where they build pickups and the new Escape hybrid. There is a new Kansas Speedway NASCAR track here that had races last weekend. There is a huge fairly new GM plant here (cars) as well as two convention centers and hotel accommodations for any small to fairly large size convention. I-70, and I-35 cross thru here and I-29 ends here. The MCI airport is huge but not congested.
-just an idea
One idea for the ones (myself included) that are strapped for cash and want to go, how bout some carpooling of sorts, it can conicide with a convoy to pick up people along the way, and then split the driving costs from the pick up to the meet and back. I'll be the first to offer, and fordlover, i'm only a few hours away from you and will come close enough to meet up and travel together
We could all just get in line and have a new 6.0 Super Duty push us all the way there...
Sounds like a plan. As the dates and place are decided, more of us can get together and formulate a plan...maybe more of us can come than realize it right now. ( My prayer hasn't worked yet. ) BY the time it all rolls around, I can have a route drawn up, posted here and we can pick people up along the route. Someone posted a great site earlier and it will plan a route right from your house.
Branson, MO, I hear, is a really nice place to vacation.
I was thinking "Branson", myself. Nice place to visit, although I'm not sure about the airport. I usually motorhome in and pull the truck. May be a bit far for some, though.
