Daveee,

you are right that is your opinion. 1500 miles on a new $40,000 plus truck from day one in this modern age of engines is horrible! Bet if if was your truck it would be a different story! When I have an old 86 Toyota Beater with 150,000 miles and hardly a drop of oil used between 4000 mile oil changes is an eye opener. I have 90 Chevy Sub. nearly 100,000 miles, no oil use between changes. 94 Jeep 4.0 with 90,000 no oil usage between oil changes. I have this 99 Ford 450 with only 30,000 miles and has used a qt to 1500 miles since day one. I don't find that acceptable and that is my opinion!

I asked my ford dealer last week about my truck using a quart of oil every 3k miles and they said that the Ford guidelines call for as much as 1 qt per 1500 miles. My voice was rising and I basically told him that it was b.s. that a new truck should be burning that much oil when my old jeep (or any other vehicle) doesn't. Finally I just left, disgusted with the "party line"

Tony,

I got the same canned speech from the Ford rep as you did except the guy I spoke to said a 1000 miles per qt was acceptable. Use your imagination at what I filled his ear with! They are like programed brain dead robots. I have owned all the different brands over the years GM has served me best, Dodge about the same, Ford has been the worst when it comes to customer support! One thing I have considered is going to a local media outlet and let them have at it. Our lemon laws here in Arizona is lacking in support for the consumer, but in your State it may be stronger. You might check and see.
