DP40 Primer or ?

DP40 Primer or ?
Hi, I've been working on my 82 F100 or about 2 monthes now. I've replaced both rocker panels and lower rear door posts. So far I have just used spray primer in a can to keep the bare steel from rusting. My uncle who is really smart when it comes to cars told me to use DP40 primer on my truck. He restored a 1970 torino that he painted in 1987. He said thats what he used when he primered his car. Anyways if you look at my truck, I have alot of rust im working on removing. I plan on using POR 15 on the frame and underside of the truck later on when I sand blast it in the future. What should I use for the pieces that im fixing? Should I use DP40? I really don't know much about body work, but im learning, im only 21. I will eventually paint the truck and I plain on removing all the old paint. Thats why so far I've just used spray primer in a can, because I plan on removing it one day when I paint the truck. I just don't want my work to rust after I have fixed it one time. Thanks Fred
