I have searched this forum and cannot find the info I need, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I parked my 88 f150 4.9 for a while and I started it the other day to move it, and it is idling high, the gas pedal wont return. I inspected the throttle body and came to the conclusion that the return spring? if thats what it is called is broke. Can anyone tell me where I can get a new one? I really need it soon because I'm ready to start running it again. Thanks everyone.
I never had to replace either one, but you have one on the throttle valve itself and one in the cable end, I don't know if the throttle valve assembly spring is a single bought part or not, I do know that the units are expensive new,I would probably hit the salvage yard for a throttle valve assembly, But unhook your cable and check it over also, there is a return compression spring at the engine side of the cable inside the head unit. Broken Wire
thanks, I'll check it out, but like I said, I can see that the spring on the throttle body is broken., it doesn't even work properly when I disconnect the accelerator cable. I'll take your advice and hit the junk yard. Thanks
