Yes, I looked mine over carefully when I picked it up. I get rather annoyed at any dings or examples of shoddy workmanship too. I never thought to look for that item, that's all. (I can't notice anything fortunately). If it was off center I thought maybe it could cause some uneven wear problems but probably not.
You won't notice it until you look from the back- look at the taillight and sight down the side of the truck- you will notice one if the bed is recessed to the cab right away- once you see it you wonder how you missed it. I was checking for dings, paint flaws, panel gaps etc. and never noticed it until the first wax job. Then I realized my bed was offset to the drivers side and recessed 3/8" on the passenger side. Now that Cincy says all you have to do is loosen the 6 bed screws and shove, I will fix it this weekend. Just a side note- I looked at a Mark LT this week end- what a joke- about $4K for tacked on chrome and a tailgate strip- they even took the tow hooks OFF the 4x4 because it's not a work truck.
Hey Yardbird, ready for this. Took it back to Ford for the body to bed alignment and they told me that I was up for the tranny Snap Ring recall. Bringing it in on Monday to get the Bed aligned and the tranny fixed. Hope this isn't a continuation of my F150 nightmare. At least Ford is picking up the tab on a rental for me.
I haven't heard about this "tranny Snap Ring" recall. Is that for all our trucks? I haven't got a letter or anything.
Toreador, the snap ring only affects 250's and 350's built before mid Dec 04 with the snow plow option. If you're not sure, have the dealer run your Vin#. Others built between March and June 04 have a Planetary pin problem. Hope this helps.
