Was looking at my Screw from the rear and noticed that my bed is aligned with the side of the truck on the driver's side but is recessed about 3/8" on the passenger side. Truck is a Lariat 4x4 with all options and no problems with shudder, nibble or vibration. Anyone else with this alignment??
I was at a dealer the other evening after they closed to really check out all the trucks without being bothered. I was under and around quite a few, checking everything you could from the outside. Almost every one had a slight to moderate bed alignment problem.
Some set off to one side like your's does. Most would be closer to the cab on one side, some by as much as 3/8 inch or more, some were both offset and closer on one side. I think there was one that was right.
I would think that chaining it down during shipment may be the biggest cause. That, and the fact that nothing is exact, but they could sometimes get closer than they do.
Just picked up my 2005 F250 Crew cab and I have the same problem. The bed is slightly offset over to the passenger side by about a 3/8"-1/2" gap. I could complain to the dealer, but nothing is ever the same after they get their hands on it. Almost every truck has this problem in one way or another.
Hey Yardbird, ready for this. Took it back to Ford for the body to bed alignment and they told me that I was up for the tranny Snap Ring recall. Bringing it in on Monday to get the Bed aligned and the tranny fixed. Hope this isn't a continuation of my F150 nightmare. At least Ford is picking up the tab on a rental for me.
My Flareside bed was aligned to the drivers side by an extra half inch. I have a drop in bedliner and I was afraid that the dealer would screw it up and scratch my truck pulling it out so I pulled the bedliner out myself and used a Torx bit to loosen the bolts and aligned it correctly myself. It only took about 15 minutes and it looks perfect. I'm sure that the dealer would fix it but to me it wasn't worth giving my truck up for a day.

Truck is already going back for the Snap Ring recall. I figured while they have it, they might as well do the bed. If they Scratch it, they have to fix it.
How do you even notice stuff like this? Does it matter? You mean that the bed is a little closer to the cab on one side?
No, the bed is about 1/2" over to the passenger side. It doesn't line up with the rear bumper or the lines of the cab. maybe I noticed it more because the truck is black.
When a truck has a MSRP of $47,800 you notice everything. i bet you the guy who spends 47K on a BMW would notice crap like that. It's just the "It's a Truck" mentality of the dealers. What, because it's a truck and not a fancy sports car, we don't have the right to be picky about the fit and finish. When I pick up a brand new truck, I expect it to look good. What I do to it after I buy it is my business.
