Manual hub conversion
i posted this in the axel ect forum and did not get a response, so i am going to try to post it here to see if it is answerd
sorry about two posts on same subject
I have a 87 BII that was all auto. tranny, transfercase and hubs.
i swaped out tranny and transfercase to manuals.( that was fun lol.)
i have a chance to get a set of warn manual hubs off of a fellow from work. he is going the oppisite way i did and converting everything to auto.(except for transfercase, darn wanted to trade him for my auto)
now he put the whole front axel in so the manual stuff is sitting i the corner of his shop.
he told me for $40 canadian i can take it away.
My Question is this...
Can i just take everything from the outer wheel bearing to and including the hubs and just swap it in and toss the auto stuff?
I keep hearing about these hub conversion kits.
are they for when you buy new hubs from the store?
i heard that the hub kit is really a Ford part that you can get for 10% of the cost through ford .
thanks for the reply
I am not sure about the Bronco II, I am planning to do this on mine also. I do know that I ordered the conversion kit for my full size bronco and noticed that the only difference is on the lock washer located between the two locknuts. The auto version had for tabs on the outer edge which mesh with the auto hubs and engage them when power is applied to the axle shafts. If you could cut those tabs off, they would be exactly like the manual ones. I am not sure if the manual hubs would work if the tabs were left on. I hope this info can help you.
