Question Copper Header Gaskets?

352 in my '67 Custom Cab, had a decent set of headers (unknown brand) on it when I got it... getting some popping, appears I need new exhaust gaskets.

I see copper ones on eBay... any advantage? All FE gaskets the same?

Thanks guys, endless source of info...

They might work good, never tried 'em. However, I do know what does work good. Victor Nitroseal gaskets, IMO, are the best you can get. These are available at Napa.

I heard good things about the copper. But, Im running the fel-Pro Performance gaskets as reccomended by my header manufacturer. I think the thicker composite sandwich type will work better for most applications...

copper gaskets

gtex, i'm running copper (flat not embossed) header gaskets as well as collector gaskets (flat) copper. I think they were made by Hussey. After they were installed i ran down the highway hard, let cool as they seated into copper then retorqued. It's over 10 months now and the header and collector bolts stay torqued and no leaks. Me very happy and will never use composition
gaskets again. The header gaskets were a perfect match with the Thorley headers.

Victor Nitroseal is very good. I have those on my 428 with Dynomax headers and copper gaskets on my '89 5.8L with Flowtech shorties. Neither one leaks!! Sooo...maybe I didn't help much!!

Ok, time for me to ask another off the wall question

Has anyone considered that corrosion between the two metals will take place? Dissimilar metals react poorly when moisture is introduced. At least this is what I remember from high school chem.

Corrosion problems solved

I got a handle on the corrosion problems by not driving under 1,000" of water or more and keeping the EGT under 212 degrees F. ........o&o>............

Putt, where'd you buy the Victor Reinz gaskets? I've torn the internet up and not finding anyone selling... retail only?

Thanks...
