I have an 88 bronco II, 2.9L 2WD manual. I had to replace the rear driveshaft cause the old one had a ripped cv boot on it. I got a different type of shaft that replaces the cv type and is made to last longer than another cv type driveshaft. The splined output shaft coming out of the transfer case that the yoke/flange plate slides onto is supposed to have threading on the end of it so that the plate can be bolted to it. It is missing the threading, it looks like it got twisted off or something. It needs to be bolted on cause the yoke/flange plate will come off and the driveshaft will come off too. How should I go about replacing that shaft? They said that its a dummy transfer case, so I was wondering if I could just take that one off and replace it with another and that would get rid of that old shaft?
you can try checking your local junkyards..it only came in the 2wd BroncoII so i would imagine it's going to be hard to find..i'd just take a 1350 trans case from a ranger or BII and stick it in there..be the same thing.
