yep, there is a bulb. but it is a pain to get to! it is in the steering column, behind the blinker switch if i remember right! only way to change it is to tear the column apart.

(Pssst... there's no bulb in there.)

Funny that there's a bulb in the cigarette lighter but none in the PRND21, priorities.

I didn't think there was one but I was staying quiet because I did not know for shure. I just figured the truck was to old for such luxuries(sp).

I figured back then everyone could shift with there eyes closed so a light was not needed, and if you did not know where a gear was you had to use the count method.

BB...

What lights it up when the headlights are on then? Because my 67 F100 is sure lit up... almost too bright!

I've got the shop manuals and I've had my column apart too, no bulb or socket.

The bulb for the cigarette lighter is inside the housing, the light shines out when you pull out the cartridge so you can see where to put it back in.

There's also no bulb listed in the owner's manual for it.

Yes the radio has a light, it's on the top of the radio with a blue wire coming off it.

The bulb holder for the cigarette lighter has a clip that attached to the outside of the housing and has some slits for the light to enter in. Sorry I don't have one of those but try any junkyard and pull one off any truck.

Lightbulb reply to bb tx

thanks, bb i heres what i found and did...i found a loose wire bulb socket holder with a small metal frame connected i turned it into a lite for the ashtray being a cig. smoker. hate when you can't see the ashtray at night! now i think about i thought it was the light for the am radio since i did not see a round hole for a normal light. you can attach that metal framed light socket to the upper left outside of the ash tray housing frame and it works great. i only found one loose reg. light socket which went to the heater/defroster control. when i put the am radio back in could not only find one loose single wire with a rounded male terminal so, i made it the power wire, only problem only works with ign. key on not aux. now i am thinking must be radio light wire but, someone removed the end that plugs in but, where on the radio did't see any light round socket holes?

Your ashtray light is really for the cigarette lighter, it clips onto the side of it and shines thru a slit.

The radio light must be gone, here's a pic. It plugs right into the top of the unit, see the blue wire coming off of it:

I think you got the radio power plugged into the wrong source. When I get home I'll check the wiring diagram and find out where it's suppose to go.

You're welcome but I think you replied to the wrong thread. Lets both move over to your other thread so this one doesn't get mucked up.

(Moderator, could you cut and move these replies to the fuel gauge thread please?)
