My inline 6 with EFI has started stalling if you don't keep your foot on the gas. Everything else is ok, just idles right off if you let off the gas in neutral or with clutch in. Any suggestions on 1st things to check. I am not real engine knowledgeable, but as this is not my daily driver, I don't mind taking the time to learn as I go.
started stalling... somethin about that just dont sound right,
ohh well, check the idle (rpm).
Wish I could help out more, but I'm into carbs, where adjusting air/fuel, and all that crap is worlds easier. The only EFI work I do is on the Mustangs, which are kept fine tuned so I havent encountered a problem.
Most Likely, your IAC valve is dirty and needs cleaned. This will be located on top of the Throttle body (where your air intake is, and your gas pedal cable connects.) It will have a connector, and a small round motor.
I have a 92 with an I6 and it was stalling on me, as well as some hard starting, after a series of trial and error type repairs, it ended up being the PCV valve which is located on top of the engine directly behind the oil fill(at least on my truck) and it has a hose connected to it running into the air cleaner box with a seperate filter under the air filter. When you pull it off of the motor, you need to shake it and it should rattle, if it does not it is bad and the new part plus a new filter is only $8.00 at Autozone. Hope that might help.Matt C.
