I'm trying to find some recommendations to a good place or website to order parts for a 1966 F-100. I am extremely new to working on trucks, or any auto for that matter. The clutch linkage broke and I'm trying to locate a replacement. Also, where would be the best place to order a shop manual? Thanks for any help you can give.
Secondly, there are several vendors listed on the site here, check out the "parts shop" at the top right. There are also others, but are not as favored as the sponsors.
Welcome,
Not sure if you can purchase at news stand, but if you come across a Hemmings motor news browse and make list of ford parts supplier. Motor news also has section listing number of services. Believe will find majority of the popular suppliers listed. I have a several catalogs and browse for part and compare prices. Many will send for free or nominal fee. Dennis Carpenter comes to mind and believe few suppliers use them as a source. One supplier do not see listed too ofter is john's f100. Suggest in ordering confirm part is available. Have ordered items only to wait because supplier had to backorder. If you are looking for hard to come by hardware i found 'restoration specialties' a good source. They also have online catalog you can review determine if interested. Although, if only need couple items sometimes can find in a good hardware store. Hemmings also has a literature section where i purchased my set of shop manuals. However, after making many of the upgrades on my 65 do not use manual much any more. Finally, if have any questions, post and you will find members very helpful with warehouse of information. Browsing various forums or running a search is helpful.
Few parts stores will be able to help you if you ask for parts for a 66 Ford! But remember Ford often used the same parts for decades and most parts from Ford pickups will swap on your truck from 61-66 (body), through 65-79 (frame/suspension). Depending on which engine you have Ford may still be making the parts today. In the case of your busted linkage you may be able to repair what you have or find the part here in our classifieds. Much of your time will be spent looking for bits and pieces of these old trucks, talking trucks with friends, attending shows and then putting your truck together. Wonderful hobby! Welcome to FTE!
I have ordered parts from NPD national parts depot out of charlotte n.c.,they have tons of stuff and are very knowledgable. go to google to find their web site.
