83sd, Are you refering to the Vehicle Indentification Number (VIN) or a part number for the brake cable ? The VIN is on the door sticker, in the door jam, on the frame, and should be on the registration and the title.

The Date sensitive info is the last 5 or 6 digits of the Vin#

In your case,
ie:
F25YR{N12345}

No

F is just Ford Letter (prefix) to the actual truck designation 26

An F250 4x4 supercab is = X26

Click this link to learn about de-coding Ford applications.

this is what it says,

note:
"f" for full time 4x4
"g" models from serial #y60,000 to#y60,001
"h" models from serial#y60,002.
"i" models from serial #40,000
it says to specify which one you need or it will be the wrong size
can you guys help me with this one?

V61640 is your serial number
Unless you have full time 4x4 you need "i" i think. What parts book are you looking at?

V61640

This is the date related part of your Vin# (truck)

This tells when it was built.

The F in front of the 26 Does Not mean Full-time.

I don't know where that idea came from

also, where did you get this info from ?

this is what it says,

note:
"f" for full time 4x4
"g" models from serial #y60,000 to#y60,001
"h" models from serial#y60,002.
"i" models from serial #40,000
it says to specify which one you need or it will be the wrong size

If you have standard brakes
Go to a local parts house &
Order Raybestos Part BC92423

Since Y comes after V you need C by their codes.

You should be able to get one brought in for you locally.
