I have a 2002 Ranger, 3.0L V6, 2 wheel Drive, 5-speed manual, with a 5.5" fabtech lift riding on 31's. I am currently in the market to upgrade a lot. I am going to put some 33's on it, and i need to know if 4.10's are the best gears to go with for re-gearing. The stock gears are 3.27's, and 4.10's seem like the best choice.
Also, i would like to add a good dual exhaust system(preferably x-pipe configuration) i want to find a package with the exhaust and some headers to go with it. What brand, and where can i buy a good, reasonably priced deal for the exhaust and headers?
I am not too worried about gas mileage. I used to drive a '95 F-350 with some of its own Modifications, and it got 10 mpg! So now, with my new truck, anything is better, and i dont mind a drop of 1 or 2 mpg or so.
I had 4.10 installed on my 99 2x that I am running 31's on, for 33's I would consider going to 4.56's, 4.10's are'nt bad, but if I could do it over again I would have gone 4.56's. As for the 5.5" fabtech kit, do a little homework. I have heard some bad things about it. The lift spindles are ok for 3"'s, but something with the other part of the lift has an issue with spitting out the ball-joints. I don;t know if that is attributed to ruff driving or not, but as I understand it is prone to spit ball-joints out. Maybe going with just the lift spindles and a 3" body lift, giving you 6"'s of lift would be a better plan. As I said do a little research on the fabtech kit, the guys at one of the local off road shops where I live in Houston informed me of the ball-joint issue -
Not sure about the gears, but for exhaust i hear gibson is the way to go. Check at your local shop to see what kinda deals they have. JC whitney has some good deals, but for the headers and all it will be kinda pricey.
