Hi there, first time post in this forum, I normally frequent the F-150 fourm.
I found a '74 bronco with a 302, 4x4, and 3 spd column shifter, the odometer shows ~74K mi, and for the most part the body is in great shape with some small amounts of rust but nothing a repaint wont fix.
Most of the interior stuff is there, but the seats and trim need some serious work.
The motor looks okay, but it does look like it uses some oil....prolly a good chance that it would need to be rebuilt.
I am wondering what a reasonable amount would be for this vehicle?
If it has no rust and is in good shape, some would pay upwards of 4k for this. If you can get it in the 3k range, I would say your doing ok. I picked up a package deal for 2800. A 72 that runs good but needs lots of body work, and one 76 that has 56k on the odometer but was rolled over in a crash 20 years ago. I have a lot of work to do to make mine a looker. Some will say it depends on what part of the country you are in also that drives pricing. I do not know much about this, so others would be better to give advice.
If you'd like to get a fair idea of pricing and what some of the vehicles look like, go to the Ebay auto section and single out Broncos. There are some EBs there that will make you drool...and some that won't. But it will give you a general idea. Why don't you make the owner an offer and see what kind of reaction you get. I'd also take it for a short drive and see what the steering and everything else feels like on pavement and a country road. I bought a 62 F100 4x4 from a guy and got it for $800. The body and interior was immaculate, but with the wide highway tires on it, it felt like I was going to need to do some major work. The guy wanted $1500 for it and I remarked at how it handled and he said "Make me an offer I can't refuse." I put new tires on it and it drove like a new truck.
See what the guy wants for it, and hope he doesn't know what he has got. Nice, little or no rust, EB's are getting harder to find, so the prices are much higher than other rigs of the same vintage.
