hi guys, i just recently rebuilt a 1974 390 and put it in a 78 f250 4x4. I bored it out .30 and put in flat top pistons that are 9.5:1 and a 282-292 duration cam. the problem is now that the motor has about 2 miles on it and has bent three pushrods.the original cam was a 260h, so i am not sure of what lenght my pushrods are now. any ideas?
How long are they? Do you see where I'm going with this? The pushrods you had were maxed out with your original cam. Then you went to a more aggressive cam and ended up with too much pushrod. Just my .02.
It's just an opinion. Take one of your original pushrods to a parts house and compare it to the different sizes or go to a machine shop and have them measured. I wouldn't take what I'm saying as a remedy until some of these other guys chime in with their .02.
