I got a 1978 F-150 4X4,it has a 400 V8 in it but the bellhousing I have is for a 460.The transmission is a NP435.I have the truck completely took apart and am rebuilding it.
The part I need is a engine rear plate that goes between the engine block and bellhousing.Does anyone know where to buy these plates at???
Everyone I've talked to around town has them for automatics but not one for a standard shift.
Any help!
I think he wants that 1/16" metal plate that goes between the block and bellhousing. Anything from a 351M/400/429/460 w/ manual tranny will work. If you want one, I can scrounge one up and ship it to you for $20 + shipping.
Yea I need the factory 1/16 inch plate not a aftermarket one.
Thanks,
Dan
Do you have or still have the plate from your 400?
I have not personally done this, but have been told, you can just notch the crank hole on the 400 one to fit around the crank on the 460, as the bolt patterns are the same.
No I don't have the 400 plate. When I bought the truck somebody had already put the 460 bellhousing on the transmission.
What I was looking for is if anyone knew a parts dealer or company that sells them.
Jeff's bronco graveyard has them but their only for 289,300,302,and 351W.
I might end up buying a whole other truck with a 351M,400,or 460 in it with the 4spd. and use it for parts just gotta find one for cheap.
If it turns out to be the thickness of the bellhouseing, let me know because I have the complete set up off a 78 F250 4x4 w/ 400 and 4 speed tranny. I want to go to the big block and would be willing to swap the parts we both need.
