i have never replaced the rotors on a 4wheel drive before, are there any extra tools that i will need that i havent had to have on a two wheel drive? is it alot more difficult? i realize that i will need jack stands. but is the spindle nut different or anything? i replaced the rotors on my 2x4 with no problem. just dont want to tear into it and find out i dont have what i need. i dont have a spindle nut tool, but i didnt use one on the 2x4.
You Will Need The Special 1/2 Drive Socket To Get Hubs Off..the Auto Parts Guy Will Know Which One It Is..its A Big Socket With 4 Prongs On It To Undo The Bearing Retainer Nuts...you Also Might Want To Get A C Clip Tool To Make It Easier...you Will Also Need A New Seal...may As Well Pack Bearings...do You Have A Manual???
It's An Inner Seal...an Easy Way To Get It Out Is Once Every Thing Is Out Screw The Bearing Nut On Parcially And Then Yank On The Rotor It Should Break The Seal Away From The Hub...
Search this forum or consult the manual for setting bearing preload, it's different from any 2 wheel drive, bearing nut for preload then lockwasher set to hold the spindle groove and capture a pin in the bearing nut, then the locknut which requires a fair amount of tourqe applied. The manual explains it pretty good as well as where the C clip and hub retainer wire hide.

i ended up using a mallet and a flat head screw driver, i know you gotta put fifty ft.lbs. of torque on this thing to properly reinstall it, but i didnt have the 163.00 dollars that oreilly's wanted to rent the damn tool.
$163? OW!!!! I bought mine from Autozone for $20. Damn they must really be proud of their tools. Does it do the work for you?
Maybe I should sell mine in here! hehe
