carb question?

I put a new Edelbrock performer 500cfm carb and intake on my '74 302. A month later, I ran out of gas, and it now sputters at lower r.p.m. and then evens out. I dis-assembled the ENTIRE carb, cleaned it ( no signs of dirt), and put a new fuel filter on. The problem is still there. What am I missing? I don't know how old the fuel pump is and not sure if it could be something else, but the engine ran great before I ran out of gas. How about some input, Thanks

This could be a tricky one, I can't think of anything running out of gas would change unless it effected a diaphram or seal. You might double check the seal around the accelerator pump as well and maybe pull the plugs and see if one fouled along the way. (Just some thoughts).

Is the pump in the tank? The fuel that surounds the pump also keeps it cool so if one keeps the tank atleast 1/4 full the the pump should run cooler and a cool pump is a happy pump
The probley does not help you but they are just my thoughts
