It WILL work at most angles to a point...
but if you think about it parallel to the ground is what will limit the twisting forces the best....
worst case scenario is that some of the overlap on the end link can be cut and shortened....
Sorry you found a guy that didn't know what he was doing....
I would be inclined to check his work because out of hundreds I have heard of, your's is the first that needed any trimming done other than the end links to account for the difference in height of 4x2's 4x4's and lifted trucks...
Thanks for your input. I'll look at it a little better tomorow. It looks like shortening the end link is the best bet, as you've suggested. I want to see how close to vertical it is at this point first.
I contacted Hellwig. They were great! They asked for photos. After sending, they called and are resending the parts that he cut and we'll try again to install it properly. I just hope that i don't have to evacuate with it like it is. I'm afraid to break something.
anybody out there had a popping sound coming from the hellwig sway bar? it only does it when im driving on a angle road. eg: inclind driveway, uneven pothole cover. do i have to tight the bolts real real tight.
OOPS, where did my response of earlier go....
Oh, that's right... the site was so busy it wouldn't let me post....
I DID the hellwigg on my 02 4x2 X and it helped it more than the 4x4...
and it has enough end link overlap that I think even a 6" lift would let it fit fine....
I received the new three hole plates and end links from Hellwig via UPS. I made an appt. for tomorrow to have the garage READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and try again. The people at Helwig are the best! Great company.
Couldn't do it until next week. They didn't have a lift available where the weight of the vehicle remained on the wheels and not the frame. Very frustrating!
Well, I finally got it installed properly. The mechanic showed me the finished product and he had left off half of each end link. He said that it seemed pretty sturdy. I told him that it had to be very sturdy as it was designed and to cut off two holes and use both pieces. I only had a short drive home, however it seems much more stable than before. I'm very happy with the way it. it is a much more noticable improvement than the shocks were alone.
