Took the Excursion to the drive-in tonight and realized that it is not easy to turn off the interior lights while a door is left open. We backed into our spot and lifted the back gate as well as opened the doors. The problem is that the interior of the truck lit up like Christmas! I figured they would shut down after a while but never did. I eventually pulled bulbs (very hot by this point) to darken the interior. The door lights and running board lights stayed on for the entire movie. How can I turn off these lights in this scenario? If it matters, the key was in the acc position. Thank you in advance!
The lights have a timer (10min I think) to keep the battery from running down, at which point they would have shut off; the key in ACC is what kept them on. I have read numerous posts complaining about the same thing, but no one seems to have come up with an easy solution.
The GMs have had a dome light override switch forever, wish Ford would catch on...
i tried pulling fuse 14. didn't work, at least on my 2004. rather than pulling every fuse until i find it, does anyone have another choice? "interior lights" are not listed in the fuse panel index in my manual of course.
You also loose the ability to use the electric windows when you pull fuse 14. I did discover, after pulling all the door sensors, that I was still having a problem. I traced the wires and found they were rubbing on a support bar inside the rear door. I retaped all the wires and the support bar and it solved my problem.
