Took Home 99 Explorer

GM Dealer just took in trade a '99 Explorer EB w/77,700 miles. EQ: Leather, Dual Power Seats, Running Boards, Multi-CD Player, etc. 2nd Owner. He ran 7 page Carfax. No dents, no leather problems. Engine compartment is filthy and oil needs changing. I took it home for the weekend and to work on Monday.
Seems everything in good condition. Does $9,995 sound reasonable?
Thanks.

I paid that much for a '99 with less equip in Feb of this year. Mine only had 67000 on it & was immaculate. I would say the price is good, but I would do a thorough check for oil leaks & trans leaks before buying. Also, even if it's a third party warranty, I would try to get an extended warranty to cover at least the drive train.

Sounds pretty good. I bought my 99 Mountaineer 3 years ago and its got 65,000 on it now. The only real issues have been three bad plug wires and sqeeky lower ball joints. All of which you can find repair advice on here

Not sure of the differences in the V6 models, but this one has SOHC V-6.
Drove it a couple of hundred miles yesterday and got terrible gas milage: 14.3. That's a lot worst than my 5.4 Expy gets. This was mostly highway with cruise on 73. That's got to be way below the EPA, or am I missing something here?
Thanks.

EPA on my '99 4x4 is 15/19. I usually got a little better than 15 in lead-footed mixed driving. 20 on one tank once....

Airfilter, oxygen sensor, ???

I had similar results with mine when I got it. Tire pressure & air filter were the main culprits.

my 99 xls 4x4 gets 22/18. the price is pretty close to blue book. Mine had almost 100k and it was the third car we've bought from this dealer so I got a good deal on it but was listed at 8900.

Thanks for the replys. I decided to pass on this one. I don't think the hood had been opened for 2 years, plus the tailgate rubs the roof when opening.
