MY COMMENT ON AEROSTARS
Looks like Ford may have downrated the 3.0L towing capacity for 92 at least from 88. I have a 1992 sales brochure for the Aerostar Wagon that states that a properly equiped standard length Aerostar wagon 3.0L automatic and rear wheel drive is rated to tow up the 4800 lbs reduced by passenger and cargo weight. I guessing the ratings for the Aerostar Van would have been lowered also. The 88 Cargo Van was rated about 200lb higher then the Wagon for towing when equiped the same. Looking at the 88 towing guide, my van is rated at 5100lb minus passenger weight and cargo weight. I pussed it a bit I guess, but it still did well.
