i have an 03 psd with a 2.5" leveling kit, and some 35's on there and was comtemplating doins some fender cut outs and running 37's. would yall recommend doin this? i know that if i cut the fenders out that i could run 44's with a 6 inch lift. if yall have some pics that would be nice also. thanks
do you think i should leave them black or just get them painted? my truck is hunter green with tan on the bottom. do you have any pictures by any chance. thanks for your input.
That is a 5 inch lift with cutouts running 38s. You would have a damned tough time trying to run 44s with only 6 inches of lift. You might get away with 42x15s, but I'd check the wheel width and offset closely for enough clearance before running if offroad.

smiley, i have a 2.5 inch leveling kit on there and 35's so do you think that i can run some 37's w/o any major problems? Thanks for providing the picture, your truck looks awsome.
I have 04 250 w/8inch lift and 38.5s and want the fender flares but Im afraid of cutting up my brand new fenders. How much do you have to cut? what happens to the inner fender piece?
does the actual coverage of the fenders come in different sizes or just one. i think on the 4wheel parts site it just says 5in coverage. thanks for your help.
These are the largest Bushwacker Cutouts I've ever used, there is only one size for the new SD. They extend about 5 inches out from the fender. You not only cut the rear of the front fender opening about 4 inches back but the rest of the opening is cut about 2.5 inches larger. Basically you cut off along the bend around the opening. The inner fender rests on top of the front cutout, it is fully supported. The inner fender is pulled back with a bolt where it protrudes into the opening near the rear, thus making more room inside the rear of the opening.
Cutting your front fenders is no big deal, you can always buy replacements. Cutting the openings on the box is the big decision. Try replacing the box if you don't like how it turns out - heh. I did mine at 19k miles, I would have done it when the truck was first purchased but Bushwacker did not have the cutouts on the market then.
If you are not certain then you should really look at one with cutouts in person. Look around at truck shows.
my truck is green and tan, would you have them painted or leave them black. also im not really knowledgable about the painting issue, so do i need to worry about the paint chipping off? i know this probably depends on the quality of the job also. im just not really sure yet, i mean i want to and then again im running 16x8 wheels, so i dont know how good a 37/12.50 or a 13.50 is goin to look. my biggest fear is that when i get the tires on there they arent goin to stick out as much thus making it look goofy. i know i can solve that by gettin a 16x10 wheel but the funds arent really flowing in. i appreciate the advice and suggestions you have given me. thanks for your help.
the big thing to worry about with leaf sprung super duties is that the tires move rearward when the suspension cycles and if you try to stuff too much tire on one it will trash the rear of your front fenders. my friend had 8''s of lift w/ 38's and ruined his fenders. if you stick with skinnier tires on factory backspacing rims, 37's w/ a 4'' lift would probably work just fine with out issue. that's why you see giant lifts on super duties all the time, so people can run large tires without contact
