I'm running a 6" icon lift with 44" boggers

dubbs and smiley, super nice trucks. I have a 96 f250 lifted 9" sitting on 37's. I want to go bigger but im already running into problems with rubbing on the leaf springs in the front so i think i might be running to wide of a tire.
But mainly i was wondering what is the the best fender cut out to get that takes away the most out of the fender?

the only ones that will match up to the bodylines of your truck would be 87-91 ford and 92-97 ford flares. the bigger question is why the hell are your tires hitting the springs????? my 94 f350 with a 6'' and 3'' and 40'' boggers never had any issues with 12'' wide rims, not sure what my backspacing on the rims was, but i'd assume that would be where your problems are coming from. that, and you need to adjust the steering stops on the knuckles.

That first truck is damn pretty. I like it!

Some years back Fourwheeler featured a 99-04 SD with 44s and 6" lift with cutouts. The truck was that sand color light tan with a 5.4 AT and stock 3.73 gears. Seems like it may have had brown flames or something like that also. You may be able to find a pic on the interwebs or in a stash of back magazines of that truck

iirc that truck was from illinois. and kris this guy has a 96, unless he's going to trim them to fit, the s/d flares backside won't match the 96's body lines and shape.

I just bought the truck a month ago so I dont know what the spacing on it is. the tires I have on it are 14.5" so maybe I need to change the spacing on them.

Alright, I'll have to take a look into it. So if I do end up getting fender cut outs what should i be able to fit?

before i answer, do you have a photobucket account or anything so you can post a picture of your truck. i don't want to suggest a size without seeing the truck so i can confirm the amount of lift you have. i don't want to tell you a wrong answer is all.

alright, for starters, if you really want to run bigger tires than what you have you first need to start shopping craigslist and the traders for a 85.5-97 dana 60 front axle because that ttb axle will break and is already maxed the hell out with a 6'' suspension lift and 37's.

2nd if you take a little of the edge off the ends of the front bumper you can fit a lot more tire in the wheel wells. f250's are generally 1.5-2''s shorter than f350's. my f350 w/ 9'' and a slight trimming and spacing out of the front bumper fit 40x18.5's with room to spare. i am almost certain i could have fit 42's with no issue, and 44's with cutout flares. here's a pic of it on 40's

my bumper was moved 3'' forward as you can see from the side. i don't reccomend doing this, at least not as crappy as it was done on mine. the ends of the bumper were also cut a little.
i gotta warn you though, you are opening an expensive can of worms. tires over 38's take their toll on stuff and you are going to want to stick around here and ask a bunch f questions. steering is a majorly overlooked important factor.

all in all i'd say you could probably fit 40's and have a little room to flex, possibly 42's and 44's might be something you'd have to test fit before you bought some. welcome to fte's offroad forum

Haha, why thank you for the welcome and that is a sweet looking truck you got there. Yeah I regrettably didnt realize that it had a ttb axle until after i bought it and i thought i had a solid. Im only 17 and use it as my daily driver and weekend play toy. So 40's could be fit but it would really wear the hell out of the axle?

that pic was taken the day i bought that truck when i was 16. sadly i don't have it anymore, but i'm getting ready to build a replacement for it though

now back to your ttb.

yeah, that axle is pretty much at its limit for strength right now. they don't take so well to being lifted and get out of alignement very easy from offroading, then they start to wear your tires funny. if i were you i would stick with those tires and start saving for a d60. they aren't cheap, but it'll be worth it. you can generally find them between $600-1000, sometimes cheaper if you find a smoking deal. they damn near bolt right in as long as you get a 85.5-97 axle. then once you have the axle you can start thinking about bigger tires, regearing, and getting a good strong steering setup. feel free to ask all the questions you want on here, you might get made fun of, but its all in good fun. there is a lot of good info here that will help you build this truck into something strong and reliable that is also built right.

Yeah, I did some reading up on the TTB and read that they have some issues with tire wear and those sorts of things. I will definately be keeping my eyes open for a d60 cuz i really do not like how it is leaf sprung.
If I were to put a d60 on would i have to get a new lift kit?
