hey guys i just got in from my 1st layer of fiberglass on my rollpan . i decided that i like the curvature of the original bumper so what i did was over lay it with the fiberglass. now if anyone is thinking of doing the same, let me tell you, you need to fill in the moldings first, unless you want to fill your fiberglass forever. what im doing is just a peice that flows with the hatch lines, it doesnt wrap around (yet) im still contemplating how im going to get the body lines to match up. im thinking of just laying over the original body panel (in front of the wheel well) on the drivers side, then wrap it around the corner and hopefully i can mold it into the pan im making as im typing this. im trying to get my digi cam working so i can post pix asap but somthings wrong with it. ill keep posting progress.
1 more layer, hardware, sanding, bondo, paint and im finished with the main part. any advice about wraping it around the sides? so far i only have the middle peice (same width as the hatch) so now i have to make the rest higher than the middle, then wrap it around the sides. i figured fiberglass is a ton easier than a bunch of metal work. let me know what you all think. thanks
haha, this is actually my 1st fiberglass peice. its really a lot better than i thought it would be. the 2nd layer i didnt put enough hardener in it so i have to let it cure for a few more hrs in the sunlight. fits great though, i love it.
haha, finished...well sorta. i finished the main peice in my design! i just need to figure out how to roll around the corners. well i sanded, bondoed, sanded, and its smooth as glass. still some trimming and gapping to do but all looks great. i got the hardware built into it and bolted it up. fits like a glove. still not great looking because its only the middle peice, but compared to what it looked like earlier today, damn im good! still trying to figure out my webcam but hopefully ill have pics posted by the end of the week. can someone PLEASE help me out with advice on how to make the side parts? im ready for any ideas, im lost. thanks
