Is there supposed to be a plug in somewhere on the 04 F150. I didn't even know I had this til I was cleaning out my truck the other day and the option was on the window sticker. I peeked around looking for a plug but couldn't see one. It better be there somewhere... I paid for it! Thanks in advance!
Yes..it should be pretty easy to find around the front driver side under the bumper near the lower grille area (that doesn't have the grille). Mine actually was hanging out when I bought it, but I stuffed it up and away to avoid any unsightly cords. I plan to use it this winter up here in Wisconsin! Should make for a nice toasty start in the morning.
Lardman.. It appears to be a factory option. It was printed on the original window sticker rather than written on the side where some dealers like to add some dealer options and fees.
if you bought your truck in a northern state like the dakotas, wisconsin, minnesota, michigan, and so on, it gets installed from the factory. I guess because it is installed as aftermarket at the dealers alot, ford threw us a bone and put it in at no additional charge at the factory.
TS was that offered by the dealer as an option or a factory option? That would be nice to have
Its a factory option. As stated above, the northern states are more likley to get them as its up to the dealer to request them for their lots. The dealers will order the trucks they feel will sell the most and populate their lots accordingly.
Since I live in Canada, I have a good idea where the block heater cord is . If it's not hanging out from your bumper, it will be resting nicely on that piece of molded rubber between the bottom of the rad mount and he bottom of the bumper. All Canadain vehicles have block heaters as do most northern states.
So if I want to ADD an engine heater, should I go with the Ford one or aftermarket? If Ford, does anyone know a part number, how many $$$ and what is required to install? If aftermarket, similar question, who makes a good one, how many $$$ and what is required to install? Thanks in advance -
For those of you they have them they sound great, but us that don't. Are they hard to install or expensive to have done? I don't live too far north but, being a vol. firefighter, on those cold winter nights at 2 a.m, while you guys are sleeping, I'm starting my truck and not giving it any "warm-up time", to drive to the firehouse. And I hear that this is not good for the motor. Anyone with input, it is appreciated.
Mine came from the factory with one, but that is the norm up here in ND. There are alot of different heaters you can get at most any parts store. Most of them are fairly easy to install from what I remember from previous vehicles.
