I have a 99 f350 cc, srw,lwb with a 38 gallon tank and just purchased an 02 f350 cc, drw, 4x4,swb and it seems to have only a 25 gallon or so.
I would like to swap tanks before I sell my 99 so that I can get more miles per tank.
Are the tanks interchangeable and how much work will it require.?
I was getting about 780 miles /tank on the 99 and only get about 450 on the 02.I'm trying to go further with less fillups.....
If your fill tube is in the same pos as the swap tank ,your good to go .
Just change them. and use the the straps from each tank .Whats the big deal?
Unless your not describing something right(like a cross member in the way)
Like said before, I don't think youcan swap the long bed (38 gallon) tank in place of the short bed (28 gallon) tank. Look at a long bed and a short bed ord side-by-side. The filler is much closer to the rear wheel well on the short bed. If you were able to get the longer tank under there, the fill hose would run up under the cab and it would take forever to fill.
