I did it to mine and I followed the pictures in one of the links that Kwik posted in that thread. It is not too difficult, the pictures and captions explain it well. One bit of advice, get the tank as empty as possible before beginning!

I checked the spec's for Gates fuel hose and found it to meet the requirements for diesel applications. I had found instructions for in-tank and fuel line modifcations that only required the use of some fuel hose and clamps. Haven't tried it yet, but seems to be pretty straight forward.
