I just finally replaced the right front hub on my 93 AWD Aerostar. The cost was $150 at local NAPA, is this a reasonable price? This sure fooled me, I had several "experts" including the local Ford dealer who couldn't tell me for sure it was a bad bearing. Off of the van, it spun pretty nice with no play. I finally reinstalled it onto the van without the half shaft connected, put on the wheel and spun it really hard. The noise was then finally evident.
Hope this helps someone in the future, if you've got a medium pitch droning noise from the front, it might seem like a bearing, you check the bearing, it looks okay. Well, it could still be the bearing after all.
Thanks for the follow up post it will be helpful. I show a Timken brand front hub/bearing assmbly at AutoZone for $110.00 so your price was in the ballpark. Bearings are so misleading because even with the new ones, the rollers move about in their cages as much or more than the old ones. Tolerances when mounted and greased are small but critical. By the way, did the old bearing assembly seem to lack lubrication?
