I'm preparing to remove the seized 5.8L in my Econoline, and to do so I need to remove the AC condenser. This of course requires discharging the system. All references I've seen say to take it to a qualified shop, but I'm not about to have it towed somewhere just to have this done. I don't want to just vent it to atmosphere either. Anybody out there done this? I've thought about getting an empty freon bottle (or a couple), pumping it out and making an adapter to attach it to the system, then I could take the bottle to a local shop for disposal/recycling. Not sure if this is feasible though. Any ideas or experiences?
