Cab Swap

What is the latest cab and front clip that will fit a 1983 F-250 4x4 chassis?

Want to update the cab but do not want to loose the chassis. I want to keep the IDFS since I use 4x4 on daily basis and the DIFS is an absolutely necessary item.

Solid front axles won't work in my business.

I should think a 97 f-250 or 350 cab would work As far as I know it's the same (or similar) frame.

Some info for you - all 4x4 F-250's up until 1999 are IFS. All 4x4 F-350's from 1980 to 1986 1/2 are also IFS.

As far as the cab question, anything from 1980 to 1996 or 1997 will work. The 1997 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks used the 1992-1996 body style.

I have had several brands and types of 4x4's over the past 30 years. I have found that the IFS front works much better for me. My F-250 weighs in at voer 8000 lbs and is used int 4x4 mode on a daily basis. It seems to climb steeper hills than my old solid front trucks and negotaites strip hills and woods/swampy areas better.

Why do I not just change chassis and cabs....would probably take me a month to remount all the equipment. Has a utility bed, Large bumper that is used to push over trees, special winch mount, special snow plow mount to clear the large bumper, numberous electrical hook-ups...welder on bed, and more. Easier to change cab., That usually takes me a day at the most.
