93 Aerostar odometer error message
My 93 Aerostar alternately flashes the mileage and "error.3". Can anyone tell me what it means? The odometer still seems to be functioning correctly. The local service people tell me that I need to replace the instrument cluster - I have the analog cluster. The price for the replacement is $255 excluding labor. Maybe I am picky but I would like to know what is wrong before I pay that much. Also, how does one maintain the integrity of the odometer reading when the instrument cluster is replaced or can you?

I have a 92 Aerostar van with the same problem. I had the instrument cluster totally removed and reset but it did not clear up the problem. I found somewhere on the Internet that it had something to do with the ABS system, but could find nothing wrong with it. Please!!! if you find answer to this problem let me know.

I have a 92 with the analog display. Speedometer and odometer just quit working. Local speedometer shop just told me that the display panel needs to be replaced. $500-$600 for the part and about $150 labor. Local Ford dealer said $1300 for the part.
Seems to me that a speedometer should never wear out.
