Question 95 F-150 speedometer and odometer stopped working simultaneously

I replaced the VSS with no luck and then I noticed the odometer wasn't working either. Is it the instrument cluster or what? Any suggestions are much appreciated

are you sure the wiring from the VSS to the cluster is OK? If you have access to an o-scope you should see a square wave signal at approximately 800 pulses per mile if I remember correctly.

Edit: On second thought, I think the 800 ppm is what the PSOM expects for 60 mph...

stumped

My speedo and odometer quit simultaneously in my 1995 f-150 4x4 5.0L. I tried the VSS with no results. I wound up changing my speedo head and now it won't do anything but spin over, any suggestions anybody

You are posting in the speedometer/psom thread.
I think you need to start a new thread with no start in the title.

As far as I know only a Ford dealer can change the mileage in the PSOM's flash memory.
Nobody has ever posted that worked at a Ford dealer as how they do it.
I have never seen any device at a Ford dealer auction that would do this either. Maybe they have to send the item back to Ford when they go out of business.

Did you just change out the head or the whole cluster with the printed circuit?
If you changed out the whole cluster what year was it out of?

I just replaced my psom and 2 out of 3 thumbs up. The speedometer works great now. I upgeaded and got a cluster with a tach which is great because I use it driving. All the time. So I'm stoked about those two things. The only problem is that my odometer isn't working still any ideas of what the problem. Might be I'll be working on my truck again tomorrow. response to Mika's question

Hey Mika this might be a stupid question but I had the same problem. Have you hooked the wire cluster back up that connects to your gas tank toggle (front/rear). If not that's why as soon as I hooked it back up my truck had to pump gas for a few seconds but then fired right up.

Congrats on at least fixing the speedometer! I had replaced my PSOM with a junkyard PSOM, and had no luck at all. I have been so bogged down with work, I haven't gotten to mine! I can't wait to tackle it though.

possible problem xclamation

Since you replaced your psom with no luck. Just a possibility but there is always the chance that you have a blown fuse if you haven't screened that yet

The ribbon cable may be bad or not making good contact at either end. If not that try replacing the odometer only from the other cluster.

Question odometer

The odometer stopped working simultaneously with the speedometer in the last cluster. Could it be something further down the line or do I just have two junk odometers
