So I am restoring my 67 2wd and was going through the wire harness and I came across this. I don't know what it does. I found it behind the gauge panel. Does it have something to do with a neutral safety start switch? It is also on my 4x4. They weren't connected to anything as far as I can see.
Check out the pics in my gallery. Any ideas?
The black with a brown stripe (should be black with a red stripe) is for the backup lights. The red with a blue stripe is for the neutral safety switch. In an auto, they would connect to a combination switch on the lower steering column. In a stick the neutral safety switch is bypassed and the backup lights are conected farther on down under the hood. I assume both trucks are manual because that harness is the bypass.
Yeah, the 4x4 is a manual and had the bypass wires hooked up. The 2wd is an auto but I have some wires that will connect to the b&m shifter for neutral starts. Thanks ya'lls.
Guys, I need to find the backup light wire at the firewall. I've got a new wire run to the back of the truck, with all lights working except the backup lights.
Am I still looking for a black/red wire at the firewall? Is it bundled with the other wires? It's obviously not part of that same 4 conductor harness that houses the other lights??? or is it?
