steering stabilizer questions.

HELP! I just bought a new Rancho steering stabilizer kit. For all of those that are running them, where did you mount the frame bracket!!!!!!! There is little to no room for anything under there! I know that one side needs to go to the tie rod.... thats not a problem. If I'm thinking correctly the bracket needs to go on the passenger side frame rail.... but where? Its gonna have to go behind the first crossmember but there are a few tranny lines there that look like thewy will interfere with the stabilizer. Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

I got it straight. It turns out that they gave me the wrong kit! It looked a little odd and it seemed to have missing parts. I called the store from which it was purchased and sure enough it was wrong! I got the right one and installation was a breeze! About 25 min total time and I was rolling down the road. Thanks for the suggestion, I always use the instructiond for everything but this wasn't making any sense.... now I know why!

Do you notice any difference in your steering feel?

I have a '98 EB, been thinking of getting a stabilizer and want some opinions before I spend the $$$.

Just bought a Superlift/Black Diamond stabilizer and will be installing real soon. With the larger tires I have coming it should make a ton of difference from the "Cadillac" steering it has now. Talk about having absolutely no feel for the road..........

OK, bought and installed the Rough Country stabilizer, WOW, what a difference. The steering feel is much firmer now. The price was right, and installation was no problem.

One question though. They sent a dust boot for the piston rod and I installed it, but it interferes severely with a flexible housing mounted on the side of the front differential. The installation instructions show the unit mounted without the boot.

Buzzard, did you put your dust boot on or leave it off?

Installed my Superlift/Black Diamond this week and I have to say, the easy, lazy feel is a thing of the past. This is the way a truck should steer.

Is this a true bolt on kit or does the frame have to be drilled out? I hate how sloppy my 98' Expo steering is and would love to stiffen it up!

You do have to drill out the 1/4" hole on the back of the front lower control arm crossmember on the passenger side to 5/8", but the rest is bolt on. It makes all the difference in the world on my '98. This was for the Superlift/Black Diamond model, it might be different for other stabilizers.

My Rough Country kit was pure bolt-on, no drilling or modifying components involved.

Am I seeing only Rough Country kits for up to year 2000 Expeditions? Am I just blind, or is there one for a 2001 AWD there somewhere?

I installed a Rancho stabilizer. It was a pure bolt on application. Took about 35 min total to install and replace the skid plate.
