Now that it appears my truck is running good ( thanks to JW and others), it's time to bring the ponies out with a set of headers. What are the benefits to long headers vs. shorties. It's going into a 56 Truck, I'm only concerned about the installation on the drivers side. it has a steering box near the rear of the firewall. I know my new headers will be ceramic coated. Suggestions on brands? Any advice will be appreciated.
Dunno about brand... long tube is ideal for making low end torque and trucks can use all the torque you can get out of them. 56 ford huh? Thats a good year...haha...wait a second just took a look at your gallery.....nice truck later
In my experience with engine building and dynoing them on small block fords 302 and 351s, the long tube's advantage over the shorties is negligible (depending on the shorties and long tubes used)
A compared a set of comp long tubes with a set of JBA shorties and the numbers favored the comps by an angstrom.
The other advantage offered by JBA shorties is the engine bay clearance...
and with cars, the ground clearance.
is it worth the mods you will have to perform on the rest of the truck? it is up to you....I like the Bolt in JBAs personally.
I have to agree with capone...while the longtubes may give you more torque...the extent dependant on engine combo...IMO...its worth going shorties just for ease of installation.
Ky is your kinda state huh? Your in california?
I used to have pix but took them out, I may post a picture of the 95 later, it the one in good condition....however, I like my rusty 87 more...who knows why? later
