Hey guys, hate to be in a hurry like this...but I need to know how pheasable it would be to drop a 351 (i beleive it will be a windsor) into a '74 F-350 that currently has a blown 390 (not blown forced air good...blown rod through block..) in it, trans is a manual, beleive it is a 4spd granny. Anything anyone could help with, would be really appreciated, thanks, and sorry for not having more info.
Eric
LxMan1 is right, also remember that if you are not doing a direct replacement type swap(same family or series) that alot of little stuff will nickle and dime you to death. It seem that when you do this you will always need something.
Very doable but sometime frustrating.
P.S. Sorry to hear about the rod, I have thrown a rod through the block twice this wear on my 65 stang. It sucks.
New motor mounts, new trans mount, new trans, new drive shaft, different ingnition setup. Doable but time consuming.
Long block 390 w\warranty around $1200 sometimes more somtimes less. Direct dropin fresh motor with warranty. Highly doable.
motor stands and mounts, exhaust, bellhousing, flywheel, clutch kit, clutch equilizer bar and pivot ball at engine, all the brackets for the engine accessories, throttle linkage may adjust and may not, sending units for guages, and the list goes on. when you think you have everything, get some more.
thanks everyone for all the fast replys, bottom line...find an engine in the same family to swap and have much less of a head ache, thanks again, i really apreciate it.
