WOW Sounds like we have the same Van, I got a 90 with less than desirable gas millage and a little black smoke and magical gas gage.
I have noticed less dark exhaust when I put in a heavyer oil the last time I changed it. I could tell a big difference in the way the engin ran, I need to change it this week and I will telll if there is any deffence.

doug did you have any other problems with your van mine seems to be sluggish at a cold idle i only get 300km out of a tank of gas

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-Jan-02 AT 12:52 PM (EST)]Every Cold morning its sluggis and some times stall when I give it the gas. A lot of Poeple say you need to clean the TPS Throttel Positing Sensor, sorry I cant spell very well, but I have not tried to clean mine yet.

P.S. I only get about 16 to 18 miles a gallon but some times 20, I can usualy go about 300 miles on 19 gallons of gas.

hyave ou had the vehicle scanned for fault codes as ford is great forsensor going but not kicking the light on try unplugging the map sensor and seeing what happen or just plug the vacuum line to it
