How to remove brake hose clips?

Replacing both my brake line hoses on 1989 F350, 4x4, 460, 5-speed, what is easiest way to remove the spring/retaining clips? Do I need to remove the nut on the tubing side of the clip, then slide clip over the fitting? To me, it would seem more safe/better, to leave attached, if clip would come out this way....

Are you talking about the horseshoe clip that holds the soft line to the bracket for the hardline? If so, I lubed them up with WD40 and took a hammer and screwdriver and tapped them off.

Well, if you mean the horse-shoe clip that secures the rubber brake line it is very easy! Grab the tab on the clip firmly with a pair of channel-lock (or vise-grip) pliers. Then tap a few times with a small hammer on the channel-locks head until the clip is free. Install again in reverse with a few well aimed taps of a hammer or hammer and punch. Easy!
