I have been enjoying the trivia questions so far, thought I'd toss a few more up.
What show had a main (not title) character named Maynard G. Krebs?
What was the name of this show?
Who played Thalia Menniger? (Whooo Hooooo! for us old guys )
Looking at the cast of this show, it had a few amazing names playing characters.
Dobie Gillis. I think the official name was "The Life and Loves of Dobie Gillis." Thalia Menninger? You got me. But there was Bob Denver as Maynard G. Krebs, and Dwayne Hickman as Dobie, right?
Peter Graves, who played Jim Phelps on "Mission: Impossible," was not the first person to play the part. Who was the original actor, and what show (one of my favorites, BTW) did he co-star in many years later?
The first Mr. Phelps was played by Steven Hill, who later played the District Attorney on "Law & Order". Mr. Hill is Jewish, and quit "Mission Impossible" when it required him to work on Sundays. It's nice to see people stand by their convictions. Too bad it's not that common these days. Useless Knowledge? I've got tons of it!
Very good, wiseguy. The corporate "sanitized" version of the story is that audiences didn't like Steven Hill in the part; they thought he came across as "too New York." And I'm with you 100% on the conviction issue. I could say more but they'll lock the thread.
