Seat belt problems

I have a 93 xlt and my 2 yr old put some small coins into the belt clicker on the passenger side. Didn't know at first, the belt slid into place and clicked just fine but now doesn't want to release.

Any idea on how to get the belt released to empty out the coins?

Also, does anyone have a url for a kia sephia fix forum? I can't seem to locate one. THX

Well, lots of looks here but no one has had to fix this problem I see. Maybe we'll just sell it as is...so if there's anyone interested!!!!

Thats a tough one. If I understand it the belt is still clicked. I would try to silde something flat (like a small pocket screw driver) in on the bottom side of the buckle and see if it releases. If you think about it when you normally push down on the button to release, it is pushing the locking mechanism down. It is much like picking a lock with a credit card.

I wonder if one of those "slim jims" they use to unlock cars would work. It might be thin enough to just slide in under the belt end, and depress the locking button.

After thinking about this for a while, if someone was buckled in snugly, you probably would have had to cut the belt to get them out.

A narrow slim jim might, and I would only cut the belt as a very last resort. I think if you play with it enough you will be able to get it unhooked and get the coin out.

you must have a really long keyboard cord!

when my belts get stuck i found that the clausterfobic super shake and panic jerk-squeeze works best. its a learned art, but it works for me.

My Belt ever gets stuck and I can't get out, I'll cut that thing in a second. You can always send it out to be sewn back.

Well fella, I know how you feel. Its been 12 yrs since I had to do something like that. But just pop, the butto cover off. It will come off with a screw driver pushing between the cap and the part it is slid onto. Then slide it back (pop) it back on. It will take you about 2 mins to do. NO CUTTING, NO MONEY. Just the feeling of you LIL %^$#@#$%%. then
