How to ship a tractor?

I live in NW iowa, and a man down in New Mexico (near aztec) wants to buy a tractor i have for sale (case 970)...anyhow, i'm just curious if anyone knows any good shipping companies or other ways to get it down there. if not, i'll find a trailer and take it myself someday, but just thought i'd ask. there's a lot of knowledge and connections on here
thanks
Andrew

http://www.hemmings.com/ has ads for car transportation. I don't know why a tractor could not also be shipped.

weight for one, but most any flatbed hauling trucks could handle the weight, it's just whether the pocketbook can handle the haul...

Cheepest would probly be to find a Hot Shot in your area. They usualy charge per mile but should be cheeper than hiring an actual company. But then there's no inssurance if you take the Hot Shot.

I would contact a trucking broker and tell them you're looking for a good "LTL" (less than full truck) rate. If you have a little time, they can find someone looking for a partial load that will save you money. Here in Kansas City, I use a company called Callahan trucking and I've shipped and picked up heavy equipment all over the country. PM me if you want their telephone number. If you call a broker, have your machine spec's handy (size and weight) and consider your loading conditions (dock or ground load).

Now why in the world wouldn't you just drive it home? That was always the best part of the farm tractor, being able to take it on the road and open it up in 4th....14MPH wheeeeeeeee!!!!!!

Hi Andrew,
May I suggest a few tips if you choose to transport the tractor.
If using a trailer use long ramps for loading.
For saftey reasons, (there is less chance of the tractor flipping on you) back the tractor on backwards, then chain down.
