I have a friend who just bought a newer model ( not the newest ) ford truck from a dealership in atlanta. The truck has chrome lightning rims on it and has the front fascia of a lighting. The guy told him it was a F-150 GT I personally have never heard of this the truck does have some good pop it already has headers and what looks like a well built exhaust system that actually looks more factory then aftermarket. Was there an appearance package maybe or did Ford actually make a GT F150 also if its just a plain ol 5.4 F150 can anyone give me a guess on rwhp and hp with headers and exhaust (not sure on brands) so i can give him a guess.
Thanks Matthew
I'm gonna take a wild guess and say its an F-150 Lightning. Its a special package they started a few years back. The other F-150 guys can probably tell ya for sure.
best way to know if it is a lightning is to pop open the hood and look for the factory supercharger on the motor. the lightnings are also regular cab trucks with a flarside bed on them.
Ford has never made a F-150 GT. It could have been a stage 1 Lightning, or a single cab, sport 5.4L flareside. The newer model 5.4Ls have 260 HP @ about 4500 with 350lbs. of torque.
He might have been trying to give you an idea of how that truck compares to a lightning the way a mustang GT compares to an SVT cobra or salene
I wave the BS Flag and say the salesgeek was trying to get over on your compadre.
IF it was a Ligtning, well, durrr, the said salesgeek would have said it was. They are that kind of truck that you have no problem calling it what it is.
This one is a poser at best.
Lightnings are AWD as well. Check under for a t-case and let us know.
I don't believe the Lightnings are AWD, as dealer friend of mine let drive one with instructions to "git on it and see what it'll do". So after a few serious burnouts and rapid acceleration testing I can conclude that they are RWD.
i know about the step side and supercharger i have another friend who has one, his truck has none of that its a regular short bed not stepside so i guess the guy lied to him and all he has is a f150 with lighting rims and front fascia
there was a dealer close to me that was taking F150's with the 5.4 in them and putting the lightning wheels, facia, performace exhaust and selling them with the proce adjusted ofcourse.
i had never heard of it but i figured id check it out no i dont have the heart to tell him though i just say i dont know maybe it is a special version rather then the dealer lied to you and your not getting nearly the car you paid for
some dealers are good at installing stuff on cars and trucks and making them look like they are a special version or limited edition. some people are suckers for that. its just another way for the dealer to suck someone in and rip them off.
I bet it was probably built by ROUSH. They are the only company pushing that exact look. as far as the engine, maybe the guys from Shelby got their hands on it.......don't know for sure if they subbed it out for the engine mods. here's a pix of their version.
