It seems like everyone is either pro ford, or pro chevy, and can't like a different brand. What I mean is that it seems like a lot of people these days automatically look down upon a dodge, or honda, or chevy, or whatever, because it is not a Ford. I just happened to notice this, and then thought about all the different types of vehicles. I then realized how awesome some of the import sports cars are, or some of the different brands of trucks have cool features. I for one, am all about the love of cars, and am open to any type of vehicle. I hope this didn't sound offensive, cause it wasn't meant to be.
My baby is my 1972 Pontiac Ventura II. I love Ford trucks, but I think "the General" made some of the best muscle cars next to Mopars. I tow my Ventura II with my 86 F-250 4x4 HD. No brand loyalty here, I like what I like when I like it!
Ford has always had a soft spot for me, yep they have produced some average cars, and have had some catastrophic failures, but for me other companies may produce great cars that I respect a lot, but few companies make accessable performance cars like Ford, something which I appreciate.
Ford don't produce the most reliable, the quickest, the most dynamically adept, or the cheapest vehicles, but they build vehicles which has a small amount of all of these, which I appreciate.
And I ask if anyone out there honestly hasn't been seduced by a V8 Mustang at some stage?
Yeah, I'm guilty of falling hard for a 1970 Boss 302. But in my opinion, with only one true muscle car (Mustang), it seems a little weak when compared to Chevelle's, Corvette's, Nova's, Challenger's, Charger's, and Coronet's.
I'm not loyal at all to any brand. I've had trucks from all of the Big 3. They've all been great trucks. Each one had it's ups and downs. There is no perfect truck, each one leaves something to be desired. I'm able to admire and appreciate trucks of all makes. I think that blind brand loyalty is nothing more than plain ignorants.
cars are a differant story i love the 69 to 73 caddys W/ the 500c.i.d., any old t-bird, couger, edsal, camaro, and the list goes on not to crazy about imports cause they havent produced any V8s i like
I have owned all the major brands, and I keep coming back to ford. I can't seem to find something that casues me less problems, or last as long as my fords. I drove an '82 E350 15pass with bad wrist pins for almost a year, then I got a ford truck, which was a piece so I traded it on my van. I have put over 70k miles on the van, which now has 166k on the clock. It needs a fuel pump.. In repairs I have only put about $300 in this vehicle in 4 years. I can't say that anything else we have owned has been that reliable, and inexpensive.
Definitly no brand loyalty here, the cars of choice for me are the Chev Celebrity and Pontiac 6000 87+ w/ 2.8 or 3.1 MPFI only, very reliable cars. I have owned Dodge and Ford trucks and vans, never have i owned a Chev truck or van, and I probly never will. A couple of the new smallish sports cars i wouldn't mind are the Dodge SRT-4 and the Hyundai Tiburon. For Big cars I wouldn't mind one of them Magnums or a Murader.
Im not brand loyal at all. I happen to be here because I currently have an F-150. We have owned trucks and vans from Chevy, Datsun, Dodge, Ford, Toyota and VW.
I'm not loyal to any one brand, my biggest complaint on the imports is the fact they don't want to compete with the aftermarket, so they hold on to the designs, and then it is a dealer item only part, very common phrase when dealing with the Japanese imports anyway, one of the better cars I have had was a Volkswagen, and not that bad to work on. The whole reason I came to this site wasn't that I am a hard core Ford truck lover, just that I was looking for answers to problems on the one I have now. I have had several through the years, and all have needed help in some forma or fashion. The biggest money pit that never earned it back was my 75 250 4x, as much as I liked the truck, I hated the constant battle of trying to keep it going. I finally unloaded it and moved on, but the next Ford was a problem vehicle too. My 86 is the best Ford I have had, but I have to put up with questionable guages, or nonfunctional, but that is about the worst of it for now, we'll see how it holds up, but my dad's 84 was bought new, and it is still going, even for as poor of care it has had. I don't like the looks on the new Chevy's, haven't since 2000 when they changed them, and don't think they are getting any better. I used to be a basic Chevy only kind of guy, but not really, as I also considered others, and owned others. My opinions and thoughts are based on personal experience, not on brand loyalty or what I heard from others. I have many beefs with fords, as I do with all others, it just depends on the unit we are referring to at the time.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm brand loyal when it comes to trucks....
The only reason I have a Taurus was because I really liked the rental Taurus that I had to use on a trip once...Tried others, but the Taurus just seemed to have the big car feel in a mid-size, some thing I like.
i have no brand loyalty, just american loyalty, i will never buy a foriegn car
Well, nice to know that you'd buy most every Honda, Nissan, Toyota, BMW, Mazda, Suzuki, etc, that fit your needs. Yes, they all have American corporate offices, so not much to worry about in terms of "Hey, our money is going to that country across the _____ Ocean!"
We like open-mindedness like that. Keeps the manufacturers in check....as in we won't buy junk "just because" they can make it.
